inspiring quotes....

There are so many great quotes out there here are just a few great ones from www.quotationspage.com

The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion. Thomas Paine (1737 - 1809)

He who loves the world as his body may be entrusted with the empire.
Lao-tzu, The Way of Lao-tzu

You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.
Mahatma Gandhi (1869 - 1948)

I have discovered that all human evil comes from this, man's being unable to sit still in a room. Blaise Pascal (1623 - 1662)

All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them. Galileo Galilei (1564 - 1642)

My philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment. Oprah Winfrey

I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it. Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890 - 1969)

The truth that makes men free is for the most part the truth which men prefer not to hear. Herbert Agar

Say not, 'I have found the truth,' but rather, 'I have found a truth.' Kahlil Gibran (1883 - 1931)

If you want peace, stop fighting. If you want peace of mind, stop fighting with your thoughts. Peter McWilliams, Life 101, 1991

Every day we do things, we are things that have to do with peace. If we are aware of our life..., our way of looking at things, we will know how to make peace right in the moment, we are alive.
Thich Nhat Hanh

Truth sits upon the lips of dying men. Matthew Arnold (1822 - 1888)

I have been truthful all along the way. The truth is more interesting, and if you tell the truth you never have to cover your tracks. Real Live Preacher, RealLivePreacher.com Weblog, January 04, 2004

Turns out if you never lie, there's always someone mad at you.
Scott Westerfeld, Extras, 2007

One cannot find peace in work or in pleasure, in the world or in a convent, but only in one's soul. W. Somerset Maugham (1874 - 1965), The Painted Veil, 1925

One's first step in wisdom is to question everything - and one's last is to come to terms with everything. Georg Christoph Lichtenberg (1742 - 1799)

It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err. Mahatma Gandhi (1869 - 1948)

Peace is not an absence of war, it is a virtue, a state of mind, a disposition for benevolence, confidence, justice. Baruch Spinoza (1632 - 1677)

Peace has never come from dropping bombs. Real peace comes from enlightenment and educating people to behave more in a divine manner. Carlos Santana, Associated Press interview, September 1, 2004

And so faith is closing your eyes and following the breath of your soul down to the bottom of life, where existence and nonexistence have merged into irrelevance. All that matters is the little part you play in the vast drama. Real Live Preacher, reallivepreacher.com weblog, September 4, 2003

We think having faith means being convinced God exists in the same way we are convinced a chair exists. People who cannot be completely convinced of God’s existence think faith is impossible for them. Not so. People who doubt can have great faith because faith is something you do, not something you think. In fact, the greater your doubt the more heroic your faith. Real Live Preacher, RealLivePreacher.com Weblog, December 26, 2002

What I am actually saying is that we need to be willing to let our intuition guide us, and then be willing to follow that guidance directly and fearlessly. Shakti Gawain

Desire, ask, believe, receive. Stella Terrill Mann

Big brother, The Big Picture.

If you really wanna blow your mind and get a greater perspective on how this world is developing then David Icke's understanding of it really is an eye opener.

There is so much information in his head and how he expresses it easy to listen to.

He has a very interesting past and does come up with some very strange ideas. However, like he and others have said if you are interested then go and do your own reseach and see what you come up with.

For me I am open to hearing and researching anything and watching this has just raised many more questions in my head as to what is really going on.

David Icke speaks to the constituents of Haltemprice and Howden about the 'Big Brother' election, forced by the resignation of David Davis, and the move towards the global Big Brother enslavement we are all facing. (Official Full Version)

Fur trade from China

This video has been watched 2 and a half million times and needs to be seen by millions more. It doesn't matter who is delivering the message, it is important the message gets out and EVERYONE takes responsibility and stops buying fur, it is disgusting treating animals this way.. Please use the power of word of mouth and sharing to get this to everyone you know, PLEASE!

Oh and just a warning this video bought me to tears and I had to cover my eyes at some points it really is graphic..

Petrol price comparison with UK, Australia and USA

I sit in astonishment and just wonder how the Uk government can get away with charging 70-80% tax on petrol and diesel and rising the cost of it, saying that there is less fuel and its more expensive.

Check this site out it's got breakdowns of the cost of fuel http://www.petrolprices.com/price-of-petrol.html

When I lived in Australia I would always compare the standard of living with the Uk I guess we all do it. So last night I looked on line to see how much fuel prices are in Australia and in the USA.

Australia it’s around 70p a litre and in the USA it’s around 50p a litre. Now don’t get me wrong their prices have gone up however the difference is their governments don’t take a hefty whack from their citizens.

I keep wondering when the British public will get sick and tired of being sapped dry and de-pressed by the corporations / banks and government, with their overpriced products, taxes, bills, charges / interests and anything else they can get money out of us for..

I wonder what will happen when the British publics do go past boiling point on mass. Will we just all stop using and there for put everyone out of business.. As the buyers we have the power to make change. We could set up demonstrations of our anguish and have rallies but the government has got that one tied up with legislation passed to police and disperse groups of um is it over 6 people gathered together. But what they can’t stop the people doing is stop using, stop buying, stop spending. They need your money for their over exaggerated greedy wheel to carry on turning but if we all stopped paying then maybe there would be room for change.

Why is it that Australians only pay 70p a litre? There are no oil fields there they too have to ship in the fuel. The UK fits into the size of Victoria State just one fifth of Australia and their fuel has to be dispersed all over the country so I really cant see how it would cost them any less to get it to the pump..

Can someone please tell me why this is!!!

The Ride That Will Carry You Higher

Everyone's walking around looking for something, some seek it in pleasure, some seek it in pain. Some seek it in others, some seek it in wealth. Some seek it in possessions. Some seek it in obsessions. Some seek it openly, some seek it in stealth.

However, while seeking externally, disappointment will arise again and again.

Most aren't even aware of what they seek, they just seek. And because it makes you weak to seek and seek, it pays to give the mechanism a little tweak.

What we seek we've already got, although that may not mean a lot, till you quieten your mind, at which point you find, from deep within, the wellspring of life and that's when you begin to start fully living, by letting go of unnecessary resistance and giving yourself over to the Great Current underscoring existence.

Focus your mind on your breath, for that's mostly what separates you from the realm of death. Breathe deep and slow and within moments you'll know you are not this body, not this mind, and not anything you'll find on the physical plane. Though as your body provides access by which you'll attain success, drop your weight below your navel now, draw your consciousness back between your ears, soften your chest, let roll away your fears and tears of self-pity and take a rest from your story of failures and glories. Then all at once, if you remain quiet and still within your skin, from behind, from the sides, from below and from above, you'll receive what you've been seeking: cosmic love.

And as you breathe it in and breathe it out, you are gradually left with less and less doubt that behind all appearances of blockages and clearances, the way is open to achieve all you desire.

Generate it now by the grace of the Tao. Visualise it within and begin the ride that will carry you higher and bring you to precisely where you've always wanted to be: the state of perfect harmony.

Whether you live in the country or city, may the meaning of this randomised ditty cause magic in your life now and may you feel the Tao in all you do, think and say today and tonight as you work, rest and play.

Love, Doc

Yoke and Zooms Tea Party and Ansel Adams!

On Saturday we went on adventure to a tea party not any ordinary tea party but one in a little thatched cottage / caravan on wheels parked in the foyer of The New Art Gallery - Walsall / Birmingham.

Yoke and Zoom the artists in residence aka Nina and Alex devised the idea of creating a mobile cottage industry after buying a 1957's caravan on ebay.

Now that the cottage has been created it is ready to tour as an ongoing artwork and they have set up a blog to show the journey.
www.yokeandzomminresidence.blogspot.com
Yoke and Zoom ask and question, 'The cottage questions the politics of home ownership, making its home in a public space, both in rural and urban environments.

Is the stability of the ideal home threatened by its possibility for sudden departure?

Does this cottage provide an example of micro-utopian situation that could be affordably duplicated?'

Personally having grown up with caravanning parents and remembering their first caravan not too dissimilar I felt at home, comforted and have always felt a caravan is a home away from home, having lived in a caravan, a van and traveled for years I’ve been shown home is where your heart is and your heart is in your body!!

It was a lovely tea party with great scones, jam and cream. We really enjoyed and by way of making it more of a magical experience, the others said you have to go and see the rest of the gallery which in itself is just awesome. So Vinny and I went up to the top floor and there in front of me was an exhibition of Ansel Adams best works.

I was totally blown away, his work up close was awe inspiring, his technical ability, his understanding of shadow and light, and his composition all the work of a master and here I was standing in front of large originals off the negative in awe just in awe. And what really hit me was a reminder of something I have understood about digital and film. There is such a big difference, film is textured and has tangible depth and digital is clinical made from pixels and modern. Both have a place and both are so very different, we must never loose film as we run into the digital age.

Ansel Adams works - I never thought I’d see his work in real life what an amazing experience and a total must for any budding photographer or lover of photography.

The exhibition goes on until the 31st of August http://www.artatwalsall.org.uk/

"plastic soup"

Ape-X just sent me this report in the Independant on our plastic rubbish. What we throw in the bin every day has to end up somewhere and this article just shows us where! And its totally unreal, sickening and unfortunatly true..

A "plastic soup" of waste floating in the Pacific Ocean is growing at an alarming rate and now covers an area twice the size of the continental United States, scientists have said.

This is worth reading - very good advice re police. Please pass on!!!

My dear friend Susan sent me this and it's solid information for any women driving alone in their car in the UK...

Dear Friends,

It don't normally like to circulate things that create fear. I found this information helpful and hope it provides advice and does not promote anxiety.

Much love Susan

This story takes place over the Christmas/New Year's holiday break. It was the Saturday before New Year and it was about 1.00pm in the afternoon, and Lauren was driving to visit a friend, when an UNMARKED police car pulled up behind her and put its lights on.

Lauren's parents have 4 children (of various ages) and have always told them never to pull over for an unmarked car on the side of the road, but rather wait until they get to a service station, etc So Lauren remembered her parents' advice, and telephoned 112 from her mobile phone. This connected her to the police dispatcher she told the dispatcher that there was an unmarked police car with a flashing red light on his rooftop behind her and that she would not pull over right away but wait until she was in a service station or busy area. The dispatcher checked to see if there was a police car where she was and there wasn't and he told her to keep driving, remain calm and that he had back-up already on the way.

Ten minutes later 4 police cars surrounded her and the unmarked car behind her.One policeman went to her side and the others surrounded the car behind. They pulled the guy from the car and tackled him to the ground........ the man was a convicted rapist and wanted for other crimes.

I never knew that bit of advice, but especially for a woman alone in a car, you do not have to pull over for an UNMARKED car. Apparently police have to respect your right to keep going to a "safe" place. You obviously need to make some signals that you acknowledge them (i.e.put on your hazard lights) or call 112 like Lauren did.

Too bad the mobile phone companies don't give you this little bit of wonderful information. So now it's your turn to let your friends know about 112 (112 is an emergency number on your mobile that takes you straight to the police because 999 does not work if you have no signal).

interviews with nifty lighter shifters!

Are you a nifty lighter shifter or a ninja pen pincher?

At uni we were asked to create an interactive flash animation and I came up with a character called Sparky and delved into the whole phenomena of the unconscious act of picking up/ acquiring/stealing lighters and pens. The link is to animation. Any feedback welcome :-)

http://www.niftylightershifters.com/

Welcome into the undiscovered world of ‘Nifty Lighter Shifters’ and ‘Ninja Pen Pinchers’.

Nifty Lighter Shifters and Ninja Pen Pinchers are all around us and could even be you!

Have you ever reached into a pocket or bag for a lighter pulled out 3 and wondered where they came from? Or wandered off with someone’s pen in the office or lighter down the pub?

If your answer is YES then you ARE A NIFTY LIGHTER SHIFTER!!! And YOU are part of an underground phenomena…
Join us on Facebook or My Space n start tracking your lighter by requesting a label... If your lighter is nicked (and labeled) File a missing lighter report n see if the person with your lighter fronts up... Hold it to ransom… Negotiate to get it back or just sit back and watch where your lighter adventures too… Who knows your lighter might end up in maybe Egypt, Sydney, Paris, Los Angels or Tokyo and who you’ll meet on the way..

If your answer was ‘No! I always get my lighters and pen’s stolen’. If you are saying to yourself I’m always buying new lighters and my pen jar is always empty then you are the victim of Nifty Lighter Shifters!! Do you ever wonder what happened to your lighter? Find out by downloading label’s put them on your lighters. Then when you give someone a light tell them about the label and that if they end up with the lighter by mistake (of course lol) ask them to go on facebook and log the lighter.. It might make life a bit easier knowing the next few pounds you spend on lighters will create few little seeds of lighter adventures hahaha - you can track your lighter’s and watch thier journey unfold.. Find out why you and the reasons why people do it!

Joining Nifty Lighter Shifters on Facebook/Myspace is the bridge to a website due to go online later this year. On the site there will be a place to track, upload pic’s n clips of a lighters journey… hold lighters to ransom, put up rewards for missing lighters, and find out who your lighter woke up with the next day! Confess in the confessional booth, check out why you might be a victim or an unaware Nifty Lighter Shifter and worse still a person who goes out with the intention to nick lighters!!! Join in group sessions and have one on one counseling or just plain go on voyeuristic journeys whilst tracking your lighter.
